Learn to See
Drawing isn't about talent—it's about learning to see. Throughout this six-session course, you'll explore five essential concepts that will help you draw with greater accuracy and confidence.
Edges – Observing the lines and contours that define a subject.
Spaces – Seeing the shapes and spaces between objects.
Relationships – Understanding proportion, size and how forms relate to one another.
Light & Shadow – Using tone to create depth, form and atmosphere.
Gestalt – Bringing these skills together to create confident, expressive drawings.
Build Confidence
Our early sessions focus on loosening up your lines - with a range of mark-making activities to get your drawing flowing.
We’ll explore a range of different strategies and materials for mark-making, leaving you with a ‘dictionary of marks’ with which you can tackle any subject.
Once you’ve started to doodle and learned how to have fun with this - we’ll work on strategies to improve the spacing of your lines, using simple strategies to help you see proportion and placement more clearly.
Bring drawings to life
Once you’ve found your edges and got your spacing right, we’ll work on bringing those shapes into form - learning how to see both light and shadow correctly and how to record these to bring simple objects to life!
You may surprise yourself as you learn some simple strategies that will get your drawings glowing and appearing three dimensional as they lift from the page!
